Grant's Flicka of Stillwaters

Grant’s Flicka of Stillwaters is everything I wanted in a dog.  As a puppy she would lay on the front porch if there was no work to be done, undemanding and sweet. With her ears neatly pricked up, she would scan the sky for any hawks that might threaten the chickens while keeping an eye on the coop at the edge of the woods near the house.

One day, as we were relaxing on the porch, she tore off straight for the henhouse!  We barely caught a glimpse of the tail end of a fox that had been lurking around just moments before!  And yet, she is so gentle and nimble that she can hop into a pen full of day-old chicks to look around without scaring them!

As an adult, she continues to keep a watchful eye on everything on the homestead.  She is very quick to look my way when I step out the door waiting to see if I have a job for her.  Otherwise, she is still content to lay on the front porch.
