About Stillwaters Heritage Farm - Preserving the Old-Time Scotch Collie Legacy
A Quiet Wayof Living
Stillwaters Heritage Farm is rooted in a simple belief: that home should feel steady, and the life shared within it should have purpose.
We live on a low-key homestead where the rhythms of the day are shaped by chores, seasons, and time spent together with family and friends. Life here is not so hurried that we don't have time to stop and help someone.
Our dogs are part of this daily rhythm. They move with us through the day, resting when it is time to rest, watching when it is time to watch, and welcoming the neighbor who just drops in for an unexpected visit. They are woven into them our lives.
Why We Raise Scotch Colllies
We chose Scotch Collies because they embody what we value most in a family dog.
They are calm and present in the home.
They are naturally alert in the pasture.
They show deep loyalty to their people and attentiveness to their surroundings.
These are dogs with an instinct to belong-to a household, a piece of land, and the people who care for the. They do not need constant direction or stimulation to feel secure. They settle into the life around them.
For us, this makes them the ideal companions for families seeking something quieter, steadier, and more enduring.
Raised With Intention
We raise our dogs slowly and with care.
Our breeding decisions are guided first by temperament. Calmness, emotional sensitivity, and natural guardian instincts matter more to us than appearance or trends.
Our puppies are raised within our homestead environment, exposed gently to the sights, sounds, and movements of everyday life. They are handled thoughtfully and allowed the time they need to grow into themselves.
We do not raise dogs in large numbers, and we do not rush the process.
Stewardship-A Friend For Life
Our collies are deeply bonded to their people, intuitive, and eager to please. Meet Copper, our first Scotch Collie and our boys' capable helper and loyal friend. He taught us how valuable the Scotch Collie was on the farm: from catching chickens to putting our ornery milk cow back in her place, Copper was the dog for the job. We could write a book entitled, Homesteading Made Easier with the Right Dog!
To us, each litter represents a responsibility we take seriously-both to the dogs we raise and to the families that welcome them into their homes.
From Our Family
At Stillwaters, our family are keepers of Home.
Every day we live alongside our collies - feeding training, and caring for them as part of our homestead life. Our children help socialize each puppy along with friends and neighbors that stop in for a visit.
Our Collies are bred for life-real life, shared quietly and fully.
If this way of living resonates with you, we welcome you to explore further.
Whether you are learning, considering a future companion, or simply drawn to the values reflected here, you are welcome at Stillwaters.
